Year of Mercy

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This year, as a Catholic Church throughout the world, we are celebrating "The Year of Mercy."

During the course of this year we contemplate Jesus, the "face of the Father's mercy." We ask ourselves how we can both give and receive the Mercy of God. Our Holy Father Pope Francis tells us that "Mercy is the force that reawakens us to new life and instills in us the courage to look to the future with hope."

At various times during the year, those in faith formation will have opportunities to reflect on the Mercy of God. As we do so, let us consider the words of Pope Francis who says, "The Church lives an authentic life when she professes and proclaims mercy." Let us live out our vocations as members of the living body of the Church, professing mercy in everything we do.

Below you will find some excerpts from Pope Francis' Apostolic Letter on the Occasion of the Year of the Jubilee of Mercy. The numbers in parenthesis reference the paragraph numbers of Misericordiae Vultus, available in totality on this page.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to e-mail or call me at (508) 678-7532.

Wishing you God's blessings,

Mr. John A. Pietruszka
