Our elementary program offers a comprehensive academic program that includes reading, math, science, social studies, and religion. Students develop skills that prepare them for middle school. Our Kindergarten through fifth grade classes are self-contained classrooms led by teachers who create an engaging learning environment for all learners. Classes in art, gym, music, and computer technology are also offered each week.
Academic excellence is at the heart of the mission of Holy Name School. Our rigorous curriculum emphasizes the core subjects of math, English language arts, science, social studies, and theology.
Focused on the science of reading and evidence-based materials and strategies, our ELA program helps students become strong readers prepared for the rigor of elementary school and beyond. The program focuses on phonemic awareness, explicit phonics instruction, fluency, vocabulary development, reading comprehension, and writing and composition skills.
Our math program emphasizes problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Students are taught through a variety of methods including explicit instruction, hands-on learning, group work and projects. Students learn to see the application of math in order to appreciate its value beyond the classroom.
Students also begin to develop essential study and organizational skills needed for academic success. Along with academic learning, we prioritize emotional and social development to help students build confidence, resilience, and leadership skills in a faith-based environment.
