Student Council is a representative group of students from grades 6th-8th elected by their peers and focuses on student-driven collaboration in planning and guiding projects and activities for the entire student body. The areas of focus are sharing our faith, school spirit, leadership, and community service.
Students have an opportunity to participate in an annual theater production. Whether they opt for a lead character, prefer set design or a supporting role, theater productions are an excellent way for students to learn how to work as a team and speak in front of an audience, while gaining confidence in their self-presence.
We offer training for students in grades 5-8 to become altar servers and acolytes for the school and weekend masses at Holy Name Parish.
Another important aspect of becoming involved in our Catholic faith is taking an active role in the Mass. We train students to be lectors so they can build their confidence in public speaking, reading, and understanding of Scripture.
This is one of our favorite activities! Our middle school students are paired with the youngest children to help them walk to church (weather permitting), say their prayers, and follow along with the Mass. Prayer buddies build close relationships that go beyond Masses. Many students stay in touch with their “prayer buddy” long after they graduate from Holy Name!
